Multistation Software Characteristics

Characteristics of the Multistation software are explained here.

 The indication of the Kanji
 Memory Bank
The use of the Hard Disk
The software which doesn't use DOS and DOS

 The indication of the Kanji
It began to read a font in software, and it was a structure 【 the present  DOS/V
that it is indicated in the graphic VRAM above 】 without taking fundamental
design and using special hardware for the indication of the Kanji.

    Attention
When Diskette only took a drive, the installation of the Kanji font card of the
        option was indispensable.

The file of the font was surely in the software which had the function of the
OS or the OS by this design.

As for DOS, the document program and 3270 kanji emulation, it prepared for
respectively another software in the one for 24 dot and the one for 16 dot.

5250 kanji emulation was for 24 dot, monochrome model.
When this software was used, you had to increase exclusive font cards.

DOS had only JIS the First Level Kanji by the standard.
You had to purchase the font of the option when JIS the Second Level, IBM
    Expansion Kanji were used.

Every time it underwent a model change in the rest, it came to be carried  on
each series one after another as to the standard, and it disappeared to
begin to read a Kanji font more than software.

 Memory Bank
When DOS was used, Memory Bank of the individual specifications could be
    used.

A multiplex memory adapter was used at the initial type, and a part of the
increasing memory could be allocated to Memory Bank in the latter term
    type.

There was Memory Bank from 0 to 3, and the size of 1 bank was 384KB.
The number of bank to use by the software was decided.
Bank 0 is equivalent in the upper part more than 256KB of the main memory.

The use of the Hard Disk
"The Hard Disk Initialization Program" of the exclusive use attached when a Hard
Disk is used in the Multistation was necessary.

A format did a Disk by using this program, and a partition was made, and
    software was introduced.

The capacity of the Hard Disk which can be supported depended on the version
    of the software.

It couldn't be set up if the name decided as the partition to introduce software
    wasn't given.
A name could be changed after the introduction.

The example of the partition name
        Japanese DOS                                    JPC
        Bunsyo Program(Word Processer)   JWP
        3270 Kanji Emulation                          3270 EM
  OS/2                                                      OS/2
                   Logical Partition                        OS/2 * (ex. "OS/2 DATA")

It was chosen which partition to start from at the time of the start unless the
partition which did an automatic start was set up.
Unlike the computer of present IBM, the same disk could take more than one
    same software, too.
Here is a thing which is closer to the PC-98x1 series of NEC than a IBM PC.

And, it could be taken to the maximum 8 partition.

     was a maximum of 32MB.

Capacity of the partition of Japanese word processor

The minimum value required for a partition in case the version of a program is
    less than 5.
If a larger partition than this table is taken, the capacity which can be used for
        documents will increase.

The software which doesn't use DOS and DOS
As for the Multistation, "one unit 3 post", in other words
A Personal Computer as to Japanese business
    Japanese word, processor
The terminal of Japanese on-line system
There was meaning to change a function by one unit and to use it.

These three functions worked as another system at the time of the appearance,
and it was not the condition that the top of the OS had all software like the present.

Each partition was necessary when a hardware, disk was used.

The example of the software which doesn't use DOS
        Bunsyo Program(Word Processer)
        3270 Kanji Emulation
        5250 Kanji Emulation

You had to do a data change therefore to share data with the software on DOS.
One of such software had "File Conversion Utilities (PC-WP)".
