Introduction

The 5560 was introduced as a high-end variant of the 5550. All models use the i80286 CPU and come standard with a hard disk. The CPU clock has been raised from 8 MHz to 10 MHz for the M/P models.

The price of the 5560 was quite high. The machines disappeared shortly after the MCA-based PS/55 5550 was introduced (a high-end desktop model with i80486 CPU).

Note: The K09Z model covered by the available IBM documentation. The information pertaining to this model was extrapolated from the model suffix may not be entirely accurate.

Memory

In KDOS, the memory above 1 MB can be used only as a RAM disk.
In OS/2, all memory can be used for programs.

Floppy Drives

Diskette drives cannot be added.
Later, an external 3.5-inch drive for media conversion could be added.

Kanji Characters

Early models don't come with a Kanji ROM as standard equipment. For these models, Kanji fonts are loaded from software if the optional Kanji font card isn't installed.
