Reflective | Choose this option for paper originals (non-transparencies) which do not consist of a "see through" type of material, such as photographs, flyers, newspapers and so on. |
Transmissive | Choose this option for transparent objects (through which light can pass, e.g. overhead projector slides) if a Transparency Adapter is installed and turned on. |
Negative | Choose this option for photographic negatives or films if a transparency adapter is installed and turned on. |

Magazine (133 lpi) | Smoothes the fine dot pattern found in glossy magazines. |
Newspaper (85 lpi) | Smoothes the coarse grain pattern commonly found in newspapers. |
Custom | The user will
specify a value for the lines per inch (lpi). When you choose Custom, the scroll bar will be activated. The values are between 20 and 300 lpi. The default value is 120 lpi. |

This command automatically enlarges or reduces the size of an image as it is being scanned according to your selected scale factor. The smaller the scale factor, the faster the processing and enhancement speed, and the smaller the file size. The default setting is 100%.
Note: There is a close relationship between setting the resolution and scaling. The multiplication of the resolution and scaling settings cannot exceed the maximum resolution of your scanner (Resolution x Scaling <= Maximum Scanner Resolution).
