This serial port configuration note applies to both the RAIDION.es/plus and Gandiva RAID storage systems. http://www.raidionsystems.com/html/serial_port_config.html All of the typical RAID setup and configuration can be accomplished using the built-in LCD/Keypad, a serial port connection is not required. But using a serial port with a terminal will be more convenient as it displays more textual information. Physical connection: To PC - Null modem cable. DB9 (back of RAIDION) to either DB9 or DB25 (back of PC). Terminal Emulation: 9600 Baud, No Parity, 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit, Half Duplex (Full Duplex with Gandiva firmware 2t43), No Flow Control Required. Operation: When both the physical connection and terminal emulation are configured, press the Escape key to 'wake up' the serial port. A menu should be presented (RAIDION Plus see notes below). The menu structure in terminal mode is same as that of the LCD/Keypad operation. Additional info for RAIDION.es/plus: The remote access privilege must be enabled via the LCD/Keypad before serial port access is allowed. Use the LCD/Keypad, select Remote and then Enable the following: Dial In Access, Configuration Access, Maintenance Access and Supervisor Access. After enabling these items, press the Escape key on terminal, a request for password is displayed, press Enter (no password) to enter. A serial port connection can be used on a RAIDION plus to configure the IP address for the purpose of remote management. You can also use the ALookout utility to set the IP address. Dynamic Expansion (RAIDION.es/plus only) options can be invoked using the serial port or ALookout or TLookout utilities . The LCD/Keypad does not provide for this operation control.
