The PS/2 90MHz Processor Upgrade Option with Pentium** technology allows you to upgrade your existing PS/2 Server 95 to Intel's newest high-performance CPU. This processor has an internal processing speed of 90MHz versus today's 66MHz Pentium. The 90MHz Pentium processor features 256KB, dual-ported zero wait state L2 cache design, 64-bit memory bus, IBM Synchrostream technology, and dual-bus design to optimize CPU memory and I/O performance. The processor card can support ECC(1) memory to a maximum of 256MB and parity memory to a maximum of 64MB. The PS/2 90MHz Processor Upgrade Option contains licensed system programs that include set configuration, set features, and test programs. Some of these system programs are stored in the system ROM, while others are contained on diskette. System BIOS is loaded from a FLASH EPROM on the system board into system memory. This BIOS provides the hardware instructions and interfaces designed to support the standard features of the 8595s and 9595s to maintain compatibility with many software programs currently operating under DOS and OS/2 on the Personal Computer XT(TM), Personal Computer AT(R), and the PS/2 family. However, because of the higher speed of the processor in this upgrade, some timing-sensitive software may require modification. Limitations: The PS/2 90MHz Processor Upgrade Option will meet the specified operating environment of the machine type in which it is installed.
