Brief Description of Announcement, Charges, and Availability

       The IBM InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit contains the ROM
module required to upgrade an InfoWindow Display (8575150) shipped
prior to May 22, 1987, to the ROM level necessary to utilize the
function contained in IBM InfoWindow Control Program, Versions 1.2
and 1.3.

DESCRIPTION
       InfoWindow Displays shipped between July 1986 and May 21,
1987, are part number 8575150.  Displays shipped as of May 22, 1987,
are part numbers 8575154 or 8575150 with a label affixed to the
display stating, 'ROM module EC level A33944 installed.' A change was
made to the ROM module in the displays shipped after May 21, 1987,
that allows them to utilize the enhancements contained in the
InfoWindow Control Program, Versions 1.2 and 1.3.  The InfoWindow
Hardware Upgrade Kit contains this same ROM module.  It is installed
by IBM authorized service personnel at no additional charge to the
customer.
       The InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit also includes the IBM
Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) Jumper Card that allows the user to
select interrupt level 2, 3 or 4 for the IBM EGA Card when the
InfoWindow Display is attached to an IBM 5150 Personal Computer, 5160
or 5162 Personal Computer XT (TM), 5170 Personal Computer AT (R), or
Personal System/2 (TM) Model 30.  Refer to the IBM InfoWindow Guide
to Operations (SK2T-0297-01 or SK2T-0297-02) for additional
information.

shipped with this product.  Additional copies will not be available.

MACHINE REQUIREMENTS:  The InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit is
designed for use with InfoWindow Displays shipped prior to May 22,
1987, PART NUMBER 8575150 ONLY.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS:  In order to upgrade an InfoWindow Display
(8575150), the customer must order the InfoWindow Control Program,
Version 1.3 Upgrade (refer to Programming Announcement 287-488, dated
November 3, 1987), as well as this Hardware Upgrade Kit.  The
Version 3.1 Upgrade contains the materials necessary for IBM
authorized service personnel to successfully install the InfoWindow
Hardware Upgrade Kit.
PLANNING INFORMATION
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES:  The InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit is
designed for installation by IBM authorized service personnel.
Customers should contact IBM upon receipt of this feature to arrange
for installation.  There is no additional charge for installation of
this feature.
PACKAGING:  The IBM InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit (#2422) contains
the following items:
o   EGA Jumper Card Ship Group (56X2429), which includes:
    -   EGA Jumper Card Guide to Operations Text (63X4885)
    -   EGA Jumper Card Assembly (8575153)
o   Programmed ROM module  (56X2417)
o   Update Label (56X2430)
o   Installation Instructions (63X4886).
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL
       The InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit utilizes the security and
auditability features of the equipment in which it is installed.
       User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and
implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and
appropriate controls in application systems and communications.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
       All terms and conditions, with the exception of the following,
are the same as those applicable to the IBM equipment in which it is
installed.
