Customer Letter Section DESCRIPTION Connection between the InfoWindow Display and the PS/2 (TM) Models 50 and 60 is provided by the InfoWindow Attachment Kit and the GPIB Cable. The InfoWindow Attachment Kit includes two new attachment cards that provide the text, graphics, and interface controls. The GPIB Cable provides the IEEE-488 communications link between the two devices. When installed in the PS/2 Model 50 or 60, the InfoWindow Attachment Kit provides users with Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) compatible graphics and alphanumeric modes, to the extent that the Video Graphics Array (VGA) itself provides EGA compatibility, and allows access to the 256KB graphics memory provided on the PS/2 planar. When configuring an InfoWindow System with a PS/2 Model 50 or 60, the InfoWindow Display used must be part number 8575154 or 8575150 with label affixed stating, 'ROM module EC level A33944 installed.' Customers with InfoWindow Displays (8575150) must obtain the IBM InfoWindow Hardware Upgrade Kit (refer to Product Announcement 187-223, dated November 3, 1987), and the InfoWindow Control Program, Version 1.3 Upgrade (refer to Programming Announcement 287-488, dated November 3, 1987). PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS: InfoWindow Control Program, Version 1.3 is required when attaching an InfoWindow Display to a PS/2 Model 50 or 60. Currently licensed users of InfoWindow Control Program, Versions 1.0 and 1.2 may obtain InfoWindow Control Program, Version 1.3 for an upgrade charge. SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL The InfoWindow Attachment Kit and GPIB Cable utilize the security and auditability features of the system unit in which they are installed. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities.
