On the PS/2, interrupt lines may be shared, but it is unwise to share interrupts with a device that may generate a lot of them, for example a high speed serial adapter. Here, the autoconfiguring capablility of the PS/2 may not be adequate as the PS/2 has no idea which adapters use interrupts heavily. Note that interrupts have different priorities... int 10 has the highest priority, then 11, then 3,4,5, and 7. Although the PS/2 has a huge memory space, DOS based applications will only be able to access the card if the window is at an address below 100000 hex, (i.e., below the 1 Megabyte DOS limit). QNX and OS/2 applications have no such restriction. While the autoconfiguring capablilities of the PS/2 should be able to choose an unused spot for you, you are free to assign space to the card by hand. Be warned that should you assign memory space that conflicts with the space used by another adapter, permanent damage to BOTH adapters could result, unless application software has been designed specifically to handle switching the adapters' memory in and out of PS/2 memory space. Application software will automatically find which memory spcae the card has been assigned; there is no need to tell software packages where the card's memory is."
