XENIX
2.3.4q (WinWorldPC; thx to Michal Necasek)
Note:
The 'q' was a revision letter. The releases were not
always clearly labeled but the revision letters were
inside the installation archives. FYI, except for the boot
floppies the XENIX install disks are TAR archives.

XENIX Support for MCA Computers
Introduction
My intent for this page is to find significant files needed to install and
maintain SCO XENIX 2.3.4 on Micro Channel (MC) systems. I do not intend to
install XENIX of any revision, if one of you-all heroes or heroines want to, go
for it! -LFO
SCO XENIX System V 386, versions 2.3.2 and 2.3.4 will run on ST506, ESDI,
and SCSI based 386 systems. 2.3.2 needs a few SLS to fully support MCA, while
2.3.4 is far better. However, BOTH need SLS to be applied for full support.
The PS, MC, GT stuff was kind of marketing, but it generally identified what
hardware the particular XENIX release was meant for. I do not know why they
went from "PS" to "MC", but I guess it was because XENIX MC actually supported
a couple of non-IBM Micro Channel systems.

Note:
Some SLS might apply to GT and MC.
Some AT-only SLS are included for completeness.
AT / GT mean ISA
PS / MC means MCA
ALL means All Machines, ISA, MCA
"+" includes all releases after
"??" maybe GT/MC - I can't tell without opening the images.

IBM Micro Channel EFS Release 2.0.0 for SCO XENIX 2.3.4MC (NOT for
2.3.4GT) includes 3 disks, a replacement N1, a microcode update disk and a LINK
kit update disk. This EFS replaces the IBM Model 57 EFS for SCO XENIX 2.3.4MC.
EFS124 on the BBS. If a 2.88 MB floppy drive will be used for installation, no
other EFS/SLS is required - the floppy drive will be used as a 1.44 MB
density.
After installing, if they want to be able to use it in full 2.88
MB mode, they will need to install the 2.88 MB Floppy EFS for Xenix Micro
Channel, or QFS117 in the US.

E = Support Level Supplement xnx232b may be necessary to install XENIX 2.3.2
on machines built with a Seagate ESDI drive model number st177i. Also, the 80
MB ESDI drive on the PS/2 Model 55SX requires xnx232b, and the 80 and 160 MB
ESDI drives on the PS/2 Model 70 requires xnx232b.
E1 = Early Model 70 machines require xnx106 to install. Note that replacing
a 60MB drive in this machine will require an upgrade to 2.3.2 and the
Supplement xnx232.
F = This machine comes with a 2.88 MB floppy diskette drive, and the
operating systems indicated will not install on it. There is a supplement
planned to provide support for the 2.88 MB floppy under XENIX 2.3.4 MC
X = An Extended Functionality Supplement is necessary to install XENIX 2.3.4
on the IBM PS/2 Model 57SX.
P = Will work with Support Level Supplement xnx155b and writeup on the Model
P70 in this database.
Q = Will work with Support Level Supplement xnx155b and the writeup on the
Model 75 in this database.
S = SCSI hard disk is an option for this system. In order to install XENIX
on a SCSI based PS/2 you must have the IBM SCSI Extensions to SCO XENIX,
available through Telesales.
S1 = SCSI hard disk is an option for this system. In order to install XENIX
on a SCSI based PS/2 you must obtain XENIX 2.3.2 and the IBM SCSI Extensions to
SCO XENIX, available through Telesales, or use XENIX 2.3.4.
T = The ALR machines should work under XENIX 2.3.2, but have not been
tested.
There is no Support for the IBM SCSI Host Adapters in XENIX 2.3.3.
