Before you acquire MagicScan, you have to: Turn on your scanner and computer; Lift up the scanner document cover and position a source document face down on the scanner’s object glass; then Lower the document cover or transparency adapter (for transparencies).
There are two ways for you to acquire MagicScan:
For Windows Users -
MagicScan is composed by the following items, Control Window, Preview Window, Job List Window, Proof Window, Enhancement Window and Info Window. You can move, minimize or close each window at any time and maxmize the Preview Window to full screen to help you operate.
The Control window, the left side window of MagicScan, allows you to set your own control preferences. It provides all the scanner control settings necessary for you to scan images. In addition, three controls - Manual Control, binuscan IPM and MagicMatch control different scanner settings for different scanning requirements.
Preview Window
Preview Window, the right side window of MagicScan, can show the previewed image and allows you to adjust certain image controls (such as invert the image, flip the image, rotate the image, adjust the highlight and shadow, etc.) to change the scanned image.
After you have adjusted the scan settings in the Control Window, you can click the Preview button to get a previewed image. The scanner will do a low-resolution scan(preview) and the scanned image will be shown on the Preview Window. You may choose to enhance the scanned image after previewing. Choose any one of the enhancement tools in the Preview Window and modify the previewed image. The effect will be shown on the Preview Window immediately. You can adjust the image setting until you are satisfied with the scanned image.
Job List Window
Job List Window, the bottom window of MagicScan, allows you to acquire more than one scanned image for each scan operation.
There are two scanning methods that you can choose for your image, multiple scan and batch scan. Multiple Scan means the "multiple images in multiple processes of the scanner". The scanner calibrates before scanning and returns to the home position after scanning. It allows settings of those images to be different. Batch Scan means the "multiple images in a single process of the scanner". The scanner calibrates once before the first image scanned. It is better for you to choose Batch Scan mode if the images are all in the similar settings, e.g., same resolution, same highlight and shadow, etc.
Proof Window
The Proof Window offers you a precise scanned image for you to make sure that all you want to set for the scanned image are done before you click the SCAN button. In addition, you can save the image directly without clicking the SCAN button again to get a real scan.
Click the Proof button in the Preview Window and another window will pop up which displays the previewed image according to the current user defined settings. The resulting image shown on the Proof window is a low resolution display of the scanned image. The Proof window resolution is based on the Preview Resolution. If you are satisfied with the image, click SAVE button to save the image or click the CLOSE button to close this Proof window. Be aware that the saved image is for monitor display only for the resolution is displayed resolution (75dpi).
Enhancement Window
The enhancement window allows you to do image enhancement. It provides the enhancement tools for you to choose and adjust for your scanned image.
Info Window
The information window is a microscope window for you to view the surrounding pixels under the current mouse cursor position. It shows the magnification in 7x5 pixel area center at the current mouse position. If there is no previewed image on the preview window, the microscope window will disappear. In addition, it also shows the pixel level of the particular pixel under the current mouse cursor.
The measurement of pixel level such as RGB, Lab, CMYK is according to the scan mode that you choose. You can click the triangle mark to the left of the pixel value to change the measurement. In addition, it provides "Width X Height" frame adjusting dialog box to get a more precise frame than using the frame tool. It is useful to scan tiny image with precise scanned dimensions.
