The system is highlighted by Micro Channel (TM) architecture with a 20 MHz 80386 32-bit microprocessor with a capability of supporting up to 16 MB of memory (8 MB on the planar), 60 MB of disk storage, a 1.44 diskette drive and VGA graphics. The 7561/7562 Model's 011 will have 1 or 2 (1.44 MB) Diskette drives. The 7561/7562 Model's 111 will also have a 60 MB hard file. The 7561 and the 7562 are identical in function and feature capacity however they differ in form. The 7561 is a bench top system and the 7562 is designed to be installed in an industrial 19 inch rack. It should not be used to format a 1 MB diskette as 1.44 MB or a 2 MB diskette as 720 KB. o 2 MB and 4 MB Memory Module Kits (#6594 and #6575) The 2 MB and 4 MB Memory Module Kits-- Provide 2 MB and 4 MB of 85 nanosecond memory. Kits can be installed on the system board of IBM 7561/7562 Industrial Computer bringing the total system board memory to 8 MB; 2 MB are factory installed leaving two additional slots for 2 or 4 MB Memory Module Kits (a maximum of one 4 MB Memory Module Kit can be installed). This option is installed in the Math Co-Processor socket on the system board and does not require an expansion slot. The feature is programmable and supports communications speeds from 50 to 19,200 bps. This adapter supports signal transmission across 50 feet of cable. A maximum of three Dual Async Adapters can be physically attached providing a total of seven serial ports (one on the system board plus two per adapter). Total system load will limit the practical number of ports and the speed of each port. This adapter requires one expansion slot. Token Ring Network 16/4 Adapter/A This adapter provides the same features as the Token Ring Network Adapter/A included the optional feature of remote program load #8881. This adapter has the additional enhancements of having a capability of either a 4 million or 16 million bits per second and 64KB of Random Access Memory. PC Network Adapter II/A Attachment to a new or existing PC broadband Network is provided via this feature. The PC Network Adapter runs at 2 megabits per second, broadband. Network protocol is CSMA/CD. PC Network connected systems are ideal for small to medium-sized networks (small business/departmental). This adapter requires one expansion slot. See section on PC Network Broadband cables. PC Network Baseband Adapter/A The PC Network Baseband Adapter/A is a feature card that includes a modular baseband modem for connecting to a PC Network baseband network. The adapter features a 2 megabit per second transmission speed with a CSMA/CD access protocol and supports the Token-Ring 802.2/LLC protocols via the IBM Local Area Network Support Program. This adapter requires one expansion slot. See section on 5173 PC Network Baseband Extender. 3270 Connection Adapter This feature expands the capability of the IBM 7561/62 by @ providing coaxial cable attachment to the IBM 3174, 3274 and 3276 Control Units, the 4321, 4331 or 4361 Processor Display/Printer Adapter, the 4361 Workstation Adapter, and the 9370 Workstation Subsystem Controller. A quick reference manual and a diagnostic diskette are included with this adapter. This adapter requires one expansion slot. 2-8MB 80386 Memory Expansion Option (#0605) @ The 2-8MB 80386 Memory Expansion Option is a single full-length memory expansion option. It comes standard with 2MB of 85 nanosecond memory. Up to three 1MB or 2MB Memory Module Kits--85ns (#0603 or #0604) can be added to the card to provide up to 8MB of memory. It requires one 32-bit expansion slot. Additional 2-8MB 80386 Memory Expansion Options can be installed to provide a maximum of 16 MB of memory on the system. No switch setting is required. 1 MB and 2MB Memory Module Kits (#0603 and #0604) 1MB-2MB Memory Module Kit-- Provides 1MB and 2MB of 85 nanosecond memory. They can be installed on the expansion card of the IBM 7561/62 @ and on the 2-8 MB Memory Expansion Option. A maximum of three 1 or 2 MB Memory Module Kits can be installed on the 2-8 MB 80386 Memory Expansion Option. No switch setting is required. Multi-Protocol Adapter/A and Communications Adapter Cable This adapter provides a full-duplex or half-duplex multi-protocol serial data transmission channel. It supports asynchronous, bisynchronous, HDLC, or SDLC protocols. It supports modems or direct attachment. The feature is programmable at speeds of up to 19,200 bps and supports automatic protocol switching via software at setup. This adapter requires one expansion slot. The adapter requires the Communications Adapter Cable. Token Ring PC Adapter Cable A customer orderable cable that is required for attachment of either of the Token ring adapters to the network cabling system. The customer can also use an IBM Cablink System Type 3 Media Filter available from an IBM Authorized Distributor. Display Adapter 8514/A The Display Adapter 8514/A offers advanced display functions and improved performance. When used with the IBM 7554 Industrial Graphics Display, it offers increases in display content. All the modes of operation of the integrated display adapter continue to be available. Token Ring Network Adapter/A The IBM Token-Ring Network Adapter/A transmits and receives at a speed of 4 million bits per second using protocols conforming to IEEE 802.5 and ECMA 89 standards. The adapter provides logical link control functions conforming with th IEEE 802.2 standard. The adapter The adapter provides 16KB of random access memory (RAM) and provides all of the function of the IBM Token-Ring Network PC Adapter (#3391) and the IBM Token-Ring Network PC Adapter II (#5063). A diskette is included with the adapter that contains an adapter diagnostic program and a single-ring network diagnostic program. The adapter diagnostic program is used to verify the correct operation of the adapter. The ring diagnostic program is used as an aid in network problem determination. Permanent and recoverable error conditions are detected, and information on the probable source of the error is presented. The Token-Ring Network Adapter/A - Remote Program Load (#8881) is available as an optional feature. See that description. See also the cable description, feature #3390. one expansion slot. IBM Data Migration Facility This connecting tool provides an easy method for customer file transfers from an installed industrial computer with a 5.25-inch diskette drive to the 7561 and 7562 Industrial computers. It operates via the printer cable on the existing system and the parallel port on the new system. The product packaging contains a 5.25-inch diskette with a send program, the connector itself, and the appropriate instructions for use. A receive program, also required, has been included on the 3.5-inch starter diskette packaged with each Industrial Computer. DOS is required for both @ the sending and receiving systems. Level 2.0 or higher is required on the sending system, and 3.30 for reception. The printer cable must be attached to one of the following printer adapters on the host IBM Industrial computer: Printer Adapter (#5200) Serial/Parallel Adapter (#0215) Combination Adapter II (#6020) PC Network Adapter II/A - Frequency 2 and PC Network Adapter II/A - Frequency 3 These adapters provide attachment to the broadband IBM PC Network using additional RF channels. Frequency 2 uses broadband channels 2' and O. Frequency 3 uses 3' and P. The use of these channels provides industry standard offsets, coexistence with MAP, mid-split and high-split format compatibility, as well as increased network capacity, security, flexibility and performance. Realtime Interface Co-processor Multiport/2 (.5MB - ,1 MB -) and features: This adapter is designed as a single-slot mutiple device interface subsystem. This adapter and its related features has the facilities to support applications requiring a realtime, multitasking environment. The co-processor is based on the Intel 80186 microprocessor. When used in concert with an interface board, it can support up to eight serial input/output ports. It provides a full-duplex, synchronous, or asynchronous X.21, X.21 bis V.24 (RS-232) or X.21 bix V.35 interface by means of a selectable feature: Cable option X.21 (#3150) Cable option X.24 (#3160) Cable option X.35 (#0190) 5.25-inch External Diskette Drive Adapter/A This feature allows the IBM 4869 5.25-inch External Diskette Drive to be connected to the 7561 or 7562 Industrial computers. The feature includes the adapter card, an internal cable assembly and a feature card. The adapter card plugs into the connector for the 3.5-inch B drive. The internal cable is a 34-pin flat cable that connects the two cards. Mouse This two-button mouse attaches to the system pointing device port and requires no additional hardware features or external power. A device driver is packaged with each mouse for addition to the operating system. It is connected to the system with a thin, 9-foot shielded, four-conductor cable. Token Ring Network Adapter/A - Remote Program Load The remote program load is an EPROM designed to be plugged into an available socket on either the IBM Token-Ring Network Adapter/A (#4790) or the IBM Token Ring Network 16/4 Adapter/A ( * ) . It is required for each of the devices on the network which automatically issue a request to be loaded any time the device is reset and has no system disk available. DESCRIPTION The newly announced models of the IBM 7561 and 7562 Industrial Computers provide increased performance for industrial applications, including IBM network functions and workstation emulation capabilities. The new systems use the Personal System/2 advanced Micro Channel (TM) architecture to integrate the industrial requirements with many of the existing Personal System/2 features. The system is based on the 80386 microprocessor running at 20 MHz and supports an optional 80387 math co-processor. Performance is further enhanced through the use of a 32-bit wide data path to system memory. The high level of feature integration on the system board reduces the requirement for optional adapters. These include; enhanced VGA graphics subsystem, EIA serial communications controller, audio subsystem, parallel printer port interface, keyboard port, mouse port, real time clock with battery-back-up, diskette drive controller, socket for an optional 20 MHz 80387 math co-processor, two 16-bit Micro Channel (TM) expansion slots and two standard 32-bit Micro Channel (TM) expansion slots. WARRANTY: 12 Months If purchased under the IBM Agreement for Purchase/Sale, Warranty Service will be performed under IBM's Repair Center service options as stated in the Customer Service Information Bulletin which forms part of the Agreement. All service options announced as available under the Maintenance Agreement (see paragraph MAINTENANCE OFFERINGS) are available at Customer discretion and without additional charge during the warranty period. FULFILMENT OPTION The 7561/62 is eligible under the Customer Fulfilment Option MAINTENANCE OFFERINGS IBM offers maintenance services as follows: o IBM MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT in conjunction with the IBM Service/ Exchange Repair Center Amendment. Maintenance options: (Note: The availability of these offerings may vary by countries). 1. Customer Carry-in/Mail-in Repair or Exchange. 2. Courier Service. 3. IBM On-Site Service. For option 1, maintenance service is available during the normal IBM business hours and no optional periods of maintenance service are offered. For options 2 and 3, optional periods of maintenance service are available under Terms and Conditions described in the Maintenance Agreement. HOURLY SERVICES The repair of defective elements not covered by warranty or a maintenance agreement is only provided at the IBM Repair Center on an hourly service basis. ON-SITE ASSISTANCE At customer's request, IBM will provide On-Site Assistance to perform Customer Problem Analysis and Resolution (CPAR). IBM will use the same documentation that is available to the customer. This service is provided on an hourly basis at the applicable hourly rates and terms and conditions.
